| WHY
COULD THIS HAPPEN?

The Government has instructed the NHS to save (or cut) millions of Pounds. This means that many hospitals are having to sack staff, moth-ball wards, or are simply closing completely.
Only last month, the Health Secretay closed six Maternity Units in Manchester alone.
Here in Enfield, these 'savings' are being pushed through under the guise of yet ANOTHER consultation on the future of Chase Farm Hospital.
Currently only 2 options are presented when originally 10 were promised.
Both of these options would decimate Chase Farm, and neither of them provide for a fully functioning local hospital with a full range of services to meet residents' needs, or for an A & E:
One option scraps Maternity, Womens & Children's services, forcing patients to travel either to North Middlesex or Barnet hospital.
The other option closes A & E - sending ambulances to North Middlesex or Barnet Hospital (a situation which is likely to put patients at risk when minutes count).
Both of these options spells the end of Chase Farm as a proper hospital, offering the full range of services that Enfield people need and have said they both want and expect.
We need to continue fighting the Government's plans and tell them in no uncertain terms - Hands Off Our Hospital!
